Quick Description
Players take a random object and improvise how it relates to an occupation suggested by the audience. It’s called Liars Auction because it’s similar to Liars Poker.
How to Play
Players line up on stage. An object they have never seen before is handed to one of the players.
The audience suggests an occupation.
Each player steps forward and explains what the item is and how it relates to the occupation. The audience (and other cast members) ask them questions about the object.
The audience can vote for which explanation was better or it can be determined by the Host/Emcee. And then again, it may not need to be judged- just watching what the players do may be enough.
Notes
Keith (who created this game) suggests it’s fun to keep the object hidden from the players. Bring the objects out in a box.
It could be fun to do this game a few different times during an evening as if it’s a reoccurring theme.
Origin
This game was created by Keith Hanshaw and is based on the 1976-77 TV Game Show “Liars Club.” Keith is the producer of an improv group in Harrisburg, PA called Don’t Break The Streak.
