How to Play
One of the players is chosen by the audience to be the director. They will direct the improv scene.
He/she sets up the scene any any way he/she wants with as much or as little input as they want.
During the scene the director can stop the action, give the players direction (including action and dialogue).
The director can also replay a part of the scene if they want it to go a different way.
Stop the action, back up to where the female detective comes in but this time she’s carrying a gun.
Notes on how to Direct
The director can direct in any style they want….for example they can stand out in the audience near the front of the stage, or they can be onstage. Lots of choices here.
Giving the actors instruction while the scene is going on is sometimes called side-coaching.
This game is similar to a game called “Cutting Room.”
Variation
An audience member can be chosen to direct the scene.
