Quick Description
A parent reads a bedtime story (from an invisible space-object book) and the other players act out the story. The narrators adds to the story, the players acting it out add to the story and the child also contributes to the story.
How to Play
A player reads a bedtime story to a child or children.
It can start by asking the audience for a suggestion of a bedtime story that has never been written. As the player begins to tell the story …other players act it out.
The action can be influenced by the players acting out the story, by the narrator and by the child (or children).
Here is an example of how I’ve seen it played.
Player 1: Could one of you play a child in this next scene? [audience member comes to the stage]
Player 1: “Okay it’s almost bedtime, but first it’s our favorite time….story time. Which story would you like to hear tonight?
Audience member: (The audience member is prompted to give a name of a children’s book that has never been written before.)
Player 1: Oh yes….that’s a good one. (opens book and point to a page.) And who is this a picture of?
Audience member: (The audience member is promoted to give an answer.)
As the Narrator starts to tell the story, the other players act it out.
Variations
The player can treat the audience as the children.
If you have a bed, you can put a player or audience child in the bed to the side of the stage.
Notes
The ‘child’ could be an audience volunteer. This game is a variation of the narrative game “Typewriter.” (K*)

Hi William, One thing I think is important/have used successfully to not only create structure, but take the pressure off the volunteer, is to use the Story Spine. Once upon a time there was a…what? The narrator of course fills in further information, but keeps going back to the Spine. (This method also works on young children.) Source? I think it might have been me or Rafe, but it was so long ago…
