How to Play
It’s called A-1 Freeze Tag because one player asks the audience for a letter of the alphabet and the other player asks for a number between 1 and 9.
The players pose their bodies into the shape of the letter and number that was provided and begin a scene from those postures. They will have to justifying the postures…but that the fun of this game.
Origin
This comes to us from Richard Laible who says it’s a great way to start “Freeze Tag.” He used it when he was touring with Second City. You do know who Richard Laible is… don’t you?
Note
This is a justification game. The players don’t play the character of the letter and the number. The players need to justify (explain) why their characters are in that position. As with Freeze Tag, the challenge is always to have the players connect. Can you justify the body positions and develop the relationship between the two characters?
It is not necessary to stay in the position, it’s just the way the scene starts.
